Celebrating the Fourth Edition of the Educational Innovation Congress - CIE 2024

From September 23 to 24, we proudly hosted the fourth edition of the Educational Innovation Congress (CIE) 2024 on our Tegucigalpa campus. As the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC), this event has become an annual celebration of educational innovation, one which brings together renowned international speakers with our dedicated faculty and professionals who share a common goal of transforming higher education.
For CIE 2024, we focused on educational innovation, promoting the growth and development of our faculty through knowledge exchange in key areas such as progressive assessment strategies, artificial intelligence in education, academic innovation in healthcare, and active learning methodologies.
As our CEO and Rector, Rosalpina Rodríguez, expressed, "Celebrating the fourth edition of the CIE, an event that has grown into an internationally significant gathering, strengthens our efforts to transform higher education at the regional level. This congress reaffirms our commitment to creating spaces that catalyze ideas and drive the development of educational innovation in higher education."
Throughout the two-day congress, we had the privilege of discussing the latest trends and best practices in education. Faculty members from allied universities from Argentina, Colombia, the U.S., Spain, and other countries joined us, along with notable professors from our campuses in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba.
The event featured keynote lectures, panel discussions, a research paper fair, and networking spaces that encouraged meaningful interaction among attendees. One of the key panels focused on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in teacher training. We were honored to welcome international experts like Jorge Maldonado from the University of Cuenca (Ecuador), Pedro Figueroa from the University of Córdoba (Argentina), Melania Piedra from the University of Costa Rica, Alejandro Navas from the University of Navarra (Spain), and our own Javier Salgado, Academic Vice Rector of UNITEC.
Salgado remarked, "As a leading university in Central America, we are proud to facilitate knowledge exchange and support faculty development throughout the region. At UNITEC we encourage every educator to continue being a source of knowledge that contributes to the positive growth of Honduras."
We co-organized the congress with the Educational Innovation Deanship of UNITEC, ensuring the event aligned with the core pillars of our teaching-learning model. We were also grateful for the support of our sponsors, including Banco Cuscatlán, Jetstereo, Turnitin, and Guaymuras Centro Académico Internacional, who share our commitment to educational advancement.
The Educational Innovation Congress - CIE will continue to be a flagship event for us, promoting the positive development of Honduras and encouraging the exchange of innovative ideas in higher education teaching across the region.
